MacNab Transit Terminal
This new 9-bay transit facility in downtown Hamilton provides an important upgrade to the public transportation network in the city’s core, while at the same time contributing a valuable new public urban space.
The 2-storey terminal building includes a green-roof, and provides a climate-controlled public waiting area, washrooms, staff lounge and dispatch office. Extensive glazing maximizes sightlines throughout the terminal. The linear bus passenger platforms feature continuous glazed canopies with integral graphics and extensive green roofs.
Special emphasis was placed on achieving universal accessibility and effective signage/wayfinding throughout the terminal. Streetscape elements include trees, lighting, decorative paving treatments and metal screen structures to enable “vertical greening.”
