Nipigon River Bridge

This 250m long cable-stayed bridge over Nipigon River provides a new signature “gateway” to northern Ontario on the Trans-Canada Highway. Three 74m tall concrete masts with cable arrays support a composite steel superstructure.

Design enhancements include a continuous pedestrian sidewalk with connections to local trails at each end, an interpretive lookout/seating area at the base of the mast, metal railings with innovative GFRP horizontal rods, pedestrian-scale light columns and feature accent lighting of the masts and cable arrays to provide an impressive night-time aesthetic effect.
