Evergreen Brick Works Grand Opening!
Evergreen Brick Works is envisioned as the transformation of an industrial facility, largely abandoned since 1989, into a sustainable village that ties together nature, culture and community. Through adaptive reuse; re-planting of native species; green building design; and ongoing education, discovery and play, the village will demonstrate how nature can be invited back into the City.
Tackling the unique challenges of re-adpating and constructing a modern, eco-sensitive community village on the archaeologically-rich flood-plain upon which the 19th Century Brick Works buildings originally stood, has engaged the creative and collaborative talents of a diverse team of Architects, Landscape Architects and Engineers.
After eight years of dreaming, designing and building, Evergreen Brick Works — Toronto’s new community environmental centre — will be open every day, year-round. Come see the award-winning transformation of these remarkable heritage buildings.
Join in the celebration! We’ll have marvelous music, fantastic food, exciting exhibits, wonderful workshops, terrific tours and plenty of family fun.
