Construction is underway for the New VMC Strata Park and Pavilion. DTAH has been working with the Cortel Group to advance the design of Vaughan’s first stratified park located within the Expo City development. DTAH completed the concept design for the Park in conjunction with the adjacent Edgeley Pond and Park project which is a 7.5 ha stormwater pond that will also become a public park amenity and improved Black Creek corridor.

The public Strata Park and Pavilion will be built on a private parking garage and will provide active use opportunities for Edgeley Pond and Park. The new park pavilion, also designed by DTAH, will include accessible restrooms, a community-use room and Zamboni enclosure will complement the skating loop, splash pad and unique play equipment designed by Earthscape. The pavilion will allow for events to be hosted throughout the year, bringing all-season programming to the park.

Parking garage access portals are integrated into the park and landscape. Playful mounds and thoughtfully placed shade trees will complement the Edgeley Pond and Park design to create a seamless integrated landscape. The park will be a destination for the Vaughan Metropolitan Centre and by residents of the new adjacent five-tower Expo City development.
